Credible Bomb Threat Cancels Classes At Pierce College

WOODLAND HILLS, CA — Classes at Pierce College in Woodland Hills will resume as normal Thursday following a "credible" bomb threat phoned into the school.

Evening classes were canceled as of 5 p.m. Wednesday at the school.

"Pierce College is safe, there is no threat," said sheriffs Deputy Juanita Navarro.

The threat was reported anonymously at 4:30 p.m. to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers responded to the location and detained a person with similar features to that of what was described of the suspect by the caller, authorities said.

The man was questioned by personnel and was arrested on warrants unrelated to the threat, authorities said.

Los Angeles police were not available for comment.

Pierce College President Kathleen Burke-Kelly said classes would resume on the normal schedule Thursday.

Pierce College has 22,000 students enrolled in its two-year-degree and continuing education classes.
