• Yolo County Announces Holiday Schedule Changes for Waste Facilities, Offers Free Christmas Tree Recycling (hoodline.com) — Yolo County is changing holiday hours at the Esparto Transfer Station and Central Landfill and delaying curbside trash pickup by one day after Christmas and New Year’s. Residents can recycle Christmas trees for free through January 15, 2026, and seniors over 65 can schedule free at-home hazardous waste pickup, with extra reuse options at the Blue Barn Thrift Store.
   

• Yolo County Fair voted Best Event for 2025 (dailydemocrat.com) — Yolo County residents just voted the Yolo County Fair the Best Yolo County Event for 2025, celebrating strong attendance, new attractions like the Jr. Rodeo and Mr. Yolo County, and a packed Demolition Derby. Organizers are already planning expanded seating and more fun for Hog August Nights, set for August 12–16, 2026, keeping this long-running free-gate fair a centerpiece of county life.
