2 Arvada Men Among Victims Of I-70 Fiery Crash

Stan Politano, age 69, and William Bailey, 67,​ were named by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office Sunday among the four people who died.

ARVADA, CO – Two Arvada men were among the victims identified in the April 28 fiery crash that took place on I-70.

Stan Politano, age 69, and William Bailey, 67, were named by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office Sunday among the four people who died. Six people, including semi driver Rogel Lazaro Aguilera-Mederos, 23, of Houston, were injured and hospitalized, including a West Metro fire fighter.

Aguilera-Mederos faces charges of vehicular homicide in the accident after his eastbound flatbed truck carrying lumber struck a line of vehicles at the Denver West exit stopped for another accident.

As of Monday night, no funeral services for either Arvada victim had been posted online.

Politano was driving home from work as a vice president of Jacobs Entertainment, a gambling company.

Politano's wife Cathi Politano told 9NEWS that her husband, a grandfather, checked in with her by phone as he was leaving work Thursday.

"He called me on the way home, said he was leaving work," she explained. "He said, 'I love you,' and I'll be there in a minute and I turned on the news and I saw the accident," Cathi Politano said. "And I knew that was his way home every night."

According to the company's website, Politano had formerly been vice president, secretary and treasurer of Black Hawk Gaming & Development Company, until it was acquired by Jacobs Entertainment in 2002. Politano received a B.S in Business from the University of Colorado in 1972, the website said.
