Arvada Fatal Police-Involved Shooting Being Investigated
Police said the Jeffco CIRT is investigating after a 40-year-old suspect was shot while driving a stolen vehicle toward officers.

ARVADA, CO —The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that took place Monday night in Arvada, according to the Arvada Police Department.
The suspect, 40-year-old Isaiah P. Proctor, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after he was shot by Arvada police officers near W. 61st Avenue. The APD said its officers had encountered the suspect in the midst of a car theft, and that the suspect was driving toward officers at the time of the shooting.
According to police reports, at approximately 9:07 p.m., Avrada police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle in the area of W. 58th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. Officers learned a tire repair vehicle, a Ford F-550 tractor-trailer, had been left running and unattended when it was stolen.

At approximately 9:25 p.m., a tracking device inside the vehicle helped officers locate the unattended tractor-trailer on a dead-end street east of Wadsworth Boulevard, officers said.
As officers approached the vehicle on foot, the suspect entered the tractor-trailer and attempted to flee toward the officers, according to police reports.

That's when multiple officers fired their weapons, the APD said.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
In addition to the CIRT investigating the use of force in the incident, the APD said it will be conducting its own criminal investigation.
