Arvada Names New Public Works Chief
Burton "Burt" Knight was formerly head of Greeley Water and Sewer Department. He'll replace retiring Bob Manwaring.
ARVADA, CO – The City of Arvada starts a new chapter in the Public Works Department with the hiring of a new head to replace Bob Manwaring, who retired this month.
Burton "Burt" Knight is currently director of the City of Greeley’s Water and Sewer Department, and prior to that was formerly the Engineer for the City and County of Broomfield. He's a 34-year Arvada resident.
Knight will start Sep. 10, the city said in a press release.

“I am very excited to join the City of Arvada team,” Knight said in a statement. “During the interview process I could see the talent and professionalism of the organization. For me, it will be quite special to work for my community that I have loved living in the last 34 years.”
Knight received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and has completed Masters Degree courses in environmental engineering including water and wastewater treatment, groundwater hydrology and contamination, and microbial engineering and bioremediation, the city said.

The head of public works leads the department's five divisions: street maintenance, traffic engineering, Public Works administration, engineering, facilities, and GEOdata services.
