Arvada Students Recognized As National Merit Semifinalists

Two seniors from Arvada West HS and Ralston Valley HS were among 221 in state of Colorado.

ARVADA, CO – Two students from the Class of 2019 attending Arvada high schools were recognized as National Merit Semifinalists, the Jefferson County School District said.

The honored students were:

  • Madison Pixler, Arvada West High School
  • Benjamin Brandt, Ralston Valley High School

In total, 23 JeffCo seniors were among the 16,000 chosen throughout the U.S. as semifinalists. A total of 221 students in Colorado scored high enough on the National Merit exam to make the semifinal round. About 3 percent of eligible students are invited to submit an application to earn "finalist status," the district said in a press release. Finalists are eligible for various scholarships and awards.
