CO 2021 Election: Jeffco Was The Top County For Ballot Returns

More than 144,000 ballots were returned in the county before polls closed in Colorado.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Despite facing lower voter turnout than previous years, Jeffco was the top county in Colorado for voter turnout, state elections data shows.

Before polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, more than 144,000 ballots had been returned in Jefferson County.

In Colorado, 1,208,926 ballots had been returned before polls closed, according to the Colorado Secretary of State's office. By comparison, in the 2020 General Election, 1.9 million ballots had been returned five days before Election Day.

El Paso County had the second-highest ballot return rate in the 2021 election in our state, according to state elections officials.

  2. El Paso: 142,544
  3. Arapahoe: 120,643
  4. Douglas: 110,095
  5. Larimer: 97,466
  • Highest returns by age demographic: Coloradans ages 65 to 75.
  • Lowest returns: Those under age 24.
