CO State Primary Election 2022: Jeffco Deadlines, Voter Registration

Here's what Jeffco residents need to know about voting in the state primary.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Colorado's primary election is just around the corner — June 28 — and ballots have already been sent to military and overseas voters.

The state primary will determine who will be nominees for both the Democratic and Republican parties in Colorado's gubernatorial election Nov. 8.

Ballots are set to be sent to voters in a few weeks, said George Stern, Jefferson County's clerk and recorder.

Important Jeffco election dates

  • June 6: The Jeffco Elections division will mail ballots to all active Democratic, Republican and unaffiliated registered voters, Stern's office said. The county's 24-hour ballot drop boxes are also set to open June 6.
  • June 13: If you haven't yet received a ballot by this date, contact the Jeffco elections team, which can issue you a replacement by mail until June 20, the office said.
  • June 20: Last day to return your ballot by mail to ensure it arrives in time, and first day in-person vote centers are open.
  • June 28: Election Day. You can use any drop box up until 7 p.m., or if you need additional services (registering to vote, getting a replacement ballot, etc.), you can use any vote center up until 7 p.m. as well, the office said.

There were 420,787 active registered voters in Jefferson County as of May 1, according to the elections division:

  • Democratic: 121,710
  • Republican: 98,637
  • Minor parties: 7,190
