Fat Tuesday Celebration Comes To Olde Town Arvada
Hear the Brothers of Brass, enjoy Mardi Gras madness and find your paczki and King Cake on the streets of Olde Town March 5.
ARVADA, CO – Break out the purple and green beads, king cake and paczki for the first annual Fat Tuesday Kick Off in Olde Town Arvada on March 5, 2019.
Celebrated as mardi gras in French, the Catholic-derived feast traditionally represents the last glorious night before the self-sacrificing season of Lent kicks in. With this year's Easter (40 days after Lent) being so late in the spring on April 21, Fat Tuesday is later this year. Arvada is ready to tie one on – to make Lent all that much more punishing.
The celebration will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with the Brothers of Brass creating a New Orleans-style line march through Olde Town. The party starts at Grandview Ave and snakes its way down the street, stopping to jam at several spots before the band heads off to the Denver Beer Company at 5768 Olde Wadsworth Blvd for a grand finale.

Paczki Day
If you're looking for the sweet taste of paczkis– the filled Polish donuts on which to pig out on Fat Tuesday– look no further than Arvada's Royal Bakery, 9606 Ralston Rd., where the paczki will be plentiful.
King Cake
If your Fat Tuesday festivities require a King Cake, with a tiny plastic baby baked right inside, check out Rheinlander Bakery, at 5721 Olde Wadsworth Blvd. The party guest who breaks a tooth on the plastic treasure is required to host next year's party.
