'He Has Integrity, Loyalty And Courage': Arvada Hero

ARVADA, CO — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Andy Seale of Arvada, who nominated local business owner Dana Daniel.

What does the nominee do for work?:
Owns and operates a wholesale flower shop and greenhouses

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Through all of the turmoil and uncertainty, Dana has been there for all of his employees. On March 13, when the Coronavirus became a national emergency, and everyone was worried about lay-offs, safety and what the future held, Dana told us, "You don't need to worry about your job, don't worry about money, you only need to come to work if you feel comfortable and safe doing so." Being an essential business (USDA greenhouses), he needed employees to be there, however, he was fully prepared to do the work himself if nobody showed up. We all cut our hours in half so as to comply with local stay at home orders and to limit the amount of exposure to possible coronavirus. He continued to provide us with a means of income, in spite of the loss of many, many flower orders due to cancellations. I have not once felt concerned about my livelihood and never felt as if I couldn't stay home if needed. My wife, who works here as well, has had to stay home with our 3 school-aged children, trying to juggle home life and schooling. Dana has repeatedly reminded her that she still has a job when she comes back. He very well could have laid her or others off, but, because of his integrity, loyalty and courage, he has continued to provide his employees with the necessary means to survive and persevere through this harrowing and scary time in human history.
