Arvada Police Shoot, Kill Man At Busy Gas Station
Arvada police shot a man who was driving an allegedly stolen car during rush hour near 49th Avenue and Kipling Street.

ARVADA, CO – Arvada police officers shot and killed a man at a gas station Thursday night.
Police spokesman Detective David Snelling said the man was wanted for a theft incident at a Walmart on Wednesday. Officers in unmarked cars tracked the driver in an allegedly stolen vehicle to a Sinclair gas station around 6:15 p.m. at 49th Avenue and Kipling Street near the border of Arvada and Wheat Ridge.
No officers were injured, Snelling said.

Police said the driver had an active warrant for felony menacing. Snelling said police would likely have charged the him with robbery, burglary, assault and kidnapping had they been able to take him into custody.
Officers and the man allegedly struggled and the man was shot several times. Other people were nearby, Snelling said. The driver was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

No name or age was released by police Thursday night.
