'Meth-Binge' Driver Gets 36 Years For Death of Arvada Pedestrian
Troy Glassford, 39, told police he fell asleep at the wheel shortly before striking and killing Arvada dad-of-four Nathan Osburn.

ARVADA, CO – The driver who killed an Arvada pedestrian after falling asleep at the wheel post meth-binge in January was sentenced to prison in Jefferson County District Court Sept. 10.
Troy Glassford, 39, was sentenced to 36 years in prison, for the death of father-of-four Nathan Osburn, 42, the First Judicial District Attorney's Office said.
Glassford told police he was coming down from an all-night meth session when he decided to drive to his girlfriend's house January 10. About 4:15 p.m., Glassford's grey Volkswagen Passat left the curb at Pomona and Quay Drives and struck Osburn, a shed and a fence. Osburn was killed.

Glassford pleaded guilty in July to one count of vehicular homicide. He also pleaded guilty, based on four previous felony convictions, to being a habitual criminal, which tripled the mandatory sentence of 12 years to 36, the DA's office said.
"High on meth Glassford drove up onto a sidewalk, hitting and killing Nate who was out for a walk," Jefferson County District Attorney Peter Weir tweeted.

Osburn, who worked as a certified financial planner, was born in Merced, California and lived in Indiana and Arizona, according to his obituary. He and wife Julie Blanchard had four children and were members of Arvada's Shrine of Saint Anne Community. A GofundMe campaign to help Osburn's family with expenses in January raised more than $30,000.
