Police Officer In Recovery After Wednesday Morning Stabbing
A Wheat Ridge police officer is in recovery after undergoing surgery for multiple stab wounds.
WHEAT RIDGE, CO — A Wheat Ridge police officer is in recovery after being seriously injured early Wednesday morning, police officials said.
Allan Fischer, an officer who has been with the department for nearly 20 years, was responding to a traffic call at 1 a.m. Wednesday at 11000 W. 44th Ave, officials said. Upon arriving on the scene, Fischer and another unnamed officer confronted the driver of a stolen U-Haul truck.
The driver stabbed Fischer multiple times before being apprehended, police said.

Andre Jones, 29, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and first degree assault in connection with the stabbing, officials said.
Officer Fischer's "family is with him and they have asked for privacy," the Wheat Ridge Police Department said in a Twitter thread. "The outpouring of concern and support means a great to him and to WRPD. Please continue to send him your best wishes for a full recovery."
