Suspect Killed In Confrontation With Police In Arvada
An armed suspect was killed by officers early this morning, police said.
ARVADA, CO — An armed man was shot and killed by police in Arvada Wednesday, officials said.
Officers were called to Newland Way at 1:18 a.m. after a report of suspicious people in the area.
The officers saw two people inside a Ford F-350 truck, which had been reported stolen several days earlier, according to police. One man got out of the truck and took off, officials said.

The officers went after the man, who stopped and confronted them with a large knife, police said. The man did not comply with multiple requests to drop his weapon, according to the Arvada Police Department.
Two officers fired at the man, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified by police as Kenneth Delton Hutcheson.
In accordance with procedure, the Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the case and two officers have been placed on leave until the investigation is concluded.
