The city listed nine ways that the new website is more user-friendly:
- You can find every city service in one place: The new services page lists every task or service you can access. Services can be filtered, sorted and searched to find what you're looking for. Service pages have a consistent look and feel, including clear how-to steps and contact information.
- Faster navigation for services you may be eligible for: The city developed a new tool, Boulder for Me, with support from Google. The tool aims to make it easy for community members to find city services they may be eligible to receive.
- Guides to popular topics and complex information: The city has created guide pages to walk users through complex topics, such as planning and development services, and popular content such as biking, so all related resources can be found in one spot. The city also created guides by user type, including businesses, residents and visitors.

- Sort hiking trails by length, difficulty and other factors: One of the most requested features from users was the ability to sort, filter and search Boulder's extensive list of trails and trailheads, the city said. You can now visit trails and trailheads to explore the city's trails by length, difficulty and other factors. You can also sort and find parks and recreation Facilities.
- Content organized by topics that users helped define: The city received feedback from users to figure out a better way to organize content, officials said. The city no longer groups content by department — instead, content is organized by type.
- Improved city news: The main reason that residents visit the city's website is for news, officials said. So the platform is now "more prominent, dynamic and visually engaging," the city said.
- Clear, consistent project information: The new projects page allows you to see every city initiative at a glance, plus search and sort them. All city projects now follow a consistent template that shows the current status, the latest news, related events and project background.
- Mobile-first, fast-loading, responsive: More than half of all traffic to the city website now comes from mobile devices, the city said. So the new website is designed to work well on any screen size and load faster. The new homepage, for example, loads 51 percent faster than the old one, the city said.
- More focused, streamlined content: The city audited, consolidated and revised more than 5,500 webpages on the old city website down to 1,000 on this website, officials said. The city prioritized content that users visit and value and updated information to make the content clear and easy to follow.
