Climber Dies In Eldorado Canyon State Park

A group found a fallen climber who was pronounced dead, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A man was found dead Wednesday in Eldorado Canyon State Park after he fell from the Rincon wall, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

Rescue crews were called to the area around 5:45 p.m. after a group of four climbers found the man, who appeared to be 'free soloing' before he fell, the sheriff's office said.

He wasn't conscious or breathing when the group found him, authorities said.

Rocky Mountain Fire and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group were first to arrive and they confirmed the 31-year-old man was dead.

The rescue took around 3 hours.

The death was investigated by Boulder County Sheriff’s Office detectives and Boulder County Coroner’s Office investigators.

"The incident was not deemed suspicious and there is no threat to the public," the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The identity of the fallen climber, who was from Lakewood, has not been released pending his family's notification.
