Congressman's Nephew Was Drunk When Killed By Train: Autopsy

Ian Perlmutter was killed early in the morning in Louisville on the BNSF freight train tracks June 16.

BOULDER, CO – Autopsy results showed that the nephew of U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter was drunk when he was killed by a train in June.

The Daily Camera reported that toxicology results showed 35-year-old Ian Perlmutter had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.174 percent, or more than twice the legal limit to drive. Perlmutter was killed on the tracks in Louisville in the early morning of June 16 when he was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.

The death has been ruled accidental, the autopsy report said.

Ed Perlmutter, a Democrat from Arvada has represented Colorado's 7th Congressional District for 12 years.
"This is a very sad situation," Perlmutter posted on Twitter after the death was reported. "My family and I are deeply grateful for all your thoughts and prayers. As a family, we have decided to handle this as a private matter and appreciate your support."
