Lost Hikers Found Near Brainard Lake
Two male hikers, ages 22 and 23 went off-trail and were rescued the next day.

BOULDER, CO – Two hikers lost after going off-trail were rescued after spending the night in the forest near Brainard Lake, in Boulder County the Boulder Sheriff's Office reported.
Emergency responders got a 911 call around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning that the hikers were lost int he forest and could not find their way out. The hikers said they had started hiking Tuesday, intending to hike the Pawnee Trail, but had then tried to change trails to the St. Vrain Trail. They said they wandered off the trail and became lost. The two had only "day" hiking supplies and were not prepared to sleep overnight, the sheriff's office said
Rescuers recovered the two via GPS signal around 12:40 p.m. about one mile north of Brainard Lake. Rescue agencies involved were the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, the Indian Peaks Fire Protection District, members of the American Land and Leisure (who manage Brainard Lake) and deputies from the sheriff's office.
