Broomfield crews are preparing for an Arctic cold front forecasted to bring very cold temperatures and prolonged snow to Broomfield. What you can do to prepare:

  • Limit driving if you can, or pack an emergency car kit if you can’t . Car Kit should include the following: 
    • Coats, hats and gloves
    • Blanket
    • Windshield ice scraper and snow brush
    • Flashlight and small tool kit
    • Shovel and road salt/sand 
    • Basic First aid kit
    • Tow Chain or rope 
    • Cell phone charger 
  • Avoid parking on the street (especially in cul de sacs) to make way for plows 
  • Prepare for potential power outages at home with extra blankets, batteries, etc. 
  • Prepare your home for winter conditions by keeping your heat on to a minimum of 55 degrees, and dripping faucets if temperatures drop below 10 degrees. (See more information on preventing frozen pipes.)  
  • Contact your friends and neighbors that might need assistance preparing for or responding to high snowfall and make a response plan.
