On Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 6:55 P.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) communication center received one call reporting a shooting had occurred at a single-family residence in the 3200 block of Heather Glen Drive.  CSPD patrol officers were immediately dispatched and upon arrival found two deceased persons inside the residence, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  One victim was an adult female, and the second victim was a juvenile male.  A third juvenile was also present inside the residence unharmed.  A male suspect was contacted on scene during the initial response.

Detectives from the CSPD’s Violent Crimes Section Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation.  The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will make the cause and manner of death determination, and the names of the deceased individuals will not be released until both have been positively identified by the Coroner.  This is an active and ongoing homicide investigation, and one arrest has been made.  29-year old David Weingarten has been arrested and charged with two counts of 1st Degree Murder.  Detectives believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat related to public safety.  Further updates will be released in the future as appropriate.
