K9 Riggs helps capture alleged wanted felon (fox21news.com) — Colorado Springs Police say K9 Riggs helped safely arrest a man with an active felony warrant near the 1500 block of South Nevada Avenue, just south of downtown. Officers report the suspect ran, allegedly drew a gun, and was quickly subdued by the police dog and taken into custody with only minor injuries, preventing potential harm to nearby residents and drivers.
   

2. Fort Carson soldier arrested after allegedly menacing 3 with assault rifle (gazette.com) — A Fort Carson soldier is accused of threatening three people with an AR-style rifle outside a south-side Colorado Springs apartment complex on Dec. 6, leading to a panicked car crash into parked vehicles. Police later found a green AR-style rifle in the residence, and the soldier now faces multiple felony menacing charges with a court date set for Jan. 15.
   

3. Colorado Springs pet-related information and events starting Dec. 20 (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs pet lovers can plug into local rescues, adoption events, and support services starting today, including volunteer opportunities with SLV Animal Welfare Society’s dog events in town. 4. 1980 Olympic hockey team earns another gold medal (coinworld.com subscription) — Colorado Springs’ U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum will receive one of three congressional gold medal replicas honoring the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” hockey team. The legislation, recently signed by the president, also sends medals to museums in Minnesota and Lake Placid, tying local exhibits to a defining U.S. sports moment.
   

5. Immigrant rights group alleges aggressive ICE tactics in Colorado Springs (kdvr.com) — Immigrant advocates say ICE operations in Colorado Springs are becoming more aggressive, including alleged deceptive tactics near local businesses, while police insist they don’t enforce immigration law and focus only on criminal activity. Community members are being urged to stay vigilant, document encounters, and report crimes without fear that CSPD will ask about immigration status or share it absent criminal involvement.
