  1. City of Denver getting more money to cover cost of housing migrants. Denver has received an extra $1 million from the State of Colorado to aid migrants. This is in addition to the $1.5 million from the Department of Local Affairs. The funds were granted to cover unforeseen costs related to housing and emergency services for migrants. (Denverite)
  2. Are Colorado's homelessness problems worse than other places in the U.S.? In January 2022, around 10,397 individuals were homeless in Colorado, with an approximate 30.4 percent of them living on the streets, ranking Colorado as the 18th highest percentage among all 50 states. (Patch)
  3. Office vacancy in Denver hits highest peak in more than six years. Denver's office vacancy rate has increased significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rate has continued to rise as lockdown measures were lifted. During first quarter of 2020, the vacancy rate was at a three-year low of 11.5 percent. However, in the first quarter of 2023, the vacancy rate has hit a six-year high of 21.6 percent. (FOX31)
  4. Long-time restaurant packs up and moves out of Larimer Square. Under the new ownership of Asana Partners, the lease for The Bistro Vendome at Larimer Square expired, there were discussions about relocating it to another site within the square, but those plans never materialized. The Bistro has reopened in Park Hill marking a new chapter in its story. (CBS4)
  5. Latino nonprofit receives $2.2 million grant to expand and support its programs. Sen. Michael Bennet helped secure federal funds for Servicios de la Raza, the largest nonprofit of its kind in Colorado that serves Latino communities. (CO Newsline)
