Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. Are you eligible for Colorado’s property tax deferral program? As property tax assessments are set to increase significantly, Coloradans are preparing for the impact. However, a new state law has been introduced to help taxpayers defer their tax payments. Taxpayers may contest the assessed value of their property to potentially receive a reduction in their tax bill. Alternatively, the state's property tax deferral program, which now covers a broader range of Coloradans, may be utilized if other options are unsuccessful. (FOX31)
  2. Is Casa Bonita getting closer to grand opening day? According to the City of Lakewood, Casa Bonita has completed inspections as part of its highly anticipated reopening, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical inspections, which the restaurant has passed. (KDVR)
  3. Time runs out on governor's signature land use law. As the state legislature wrapped up on Monday night, as the Colorado Senate rejected a land-use bill that had been proposed by Gov. Jared Polis. The bill was designed as an attempt to address some of the affordable housing issues that are having adverse impacts on communities across the state. (CO Sun)
  4. Preservation projects throughout Colorado receive $535,980 in grants from the State Historical Fund. Earlier this month, the State Historical Fund (SHF) of History Colorado granted $535,980 in competitive funding to fourteen applicants across 13 counties in Colorado. Nearly half of the projects funded in this round of grants aim to rehabilitate historic buildings, and many of them are in rural areas of the Centennial State. (History Colorado)
