Cat Declawing Ban Moves Forward In Denver

A City Council committee approved a proposal to outlaw declawing of cats.

DENVER, CO -- A City Council committee on Wednesday approved a measure to outlaw declawing of cats.

The proposal, by Councilwoman Kendra Black, would ban declawing of cats unless it is deemed necessary by a veterinary professional, according to The Denver Post.

The proposal, which will be considered by the full City Council in November, was approved despite concerns by the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, according to the newspaper.
