City officials say zoning hasn’t changed, but stricter digital checks are catching old permitting errors, leaving this family business and several other vendors scrambling for new legal spots.
   

2. Denver International Airport seeks alternative clean energy options, CEO asks for help meeting future demand (cbsnews.com) — Denver International Airport is bracing for a massive jump in energy use and is asking private-sector experts for new clean power and storage ideas to keep up. After earlier nuclear-reactor study plans drew pushback from Denver City Council, DIA is again exploring alternatives to support future passenger growth while staying Colorado’s key economic engine.
   

3. After nearly two weeks of nonstop train horns, frustrated neighbors turn to Denver7 for answers (denver7.com) — If you live near Smith Road and Dahlia Street in northeast Park Hill, the nonstop A-Line train horns that have blared for nearly two weeks were finally silenced Monday after repairs to Denver’s signal system. RTD says high winds damaged crossing equipment, forcing engineers and Denver traffic crews to run extra safety tests before canceling the horns and restoring some peace to the neighborhood.
   

4. Overdose deaths in Denver are climbing again, topping 2024 numbers (9news.com) — Nearly 500 people have died from drug overdoses in Denver this year, making 2025 one of the city’s deadliest years and leaving medical examiners and harm-reduction workers exhausted. Local advocates are pressing Denver officials to speed up real-time drug-checking and other interventions as fentanyl- and meth-related deaths continue to climb across parks, alleys, and public spaces.
