• Federal prosecutors say Colorado man ignored warnings, promoted nationwide Ponzi scheme (cbsnews.com) — A Northern Colorado financial planner was sentenced by a Denver federal judge to more than 12 years in prison for promoting an illegal tax shelter and later running a Ponzi-style investment fund. IRS investigators from the Denver Field Office say his schemes left tens of millions in unpaid federal taxes and millions in client losses, though some restitution and seized funds will go back to victims.
