Colorado Senate Passes $30.5 Billion Budget Bill

The bill includes increased funding for transportation and kindergarten.

DENVER, CO — The Colorado Senate voted on Thursday to approve a draft of the $30.5 billion state budget for the coming fiscal year, according to the AP.

The Senate voted 29-6 in approving the budget and sending it to the House Appropriations Committee, the report says.

A last-minute push by Senate Republicans was successful, shifting $106 million to transportation.

Now at $336 million, the transportation budget is expected to make it easier to address a backlog of transportation projects.

Among other things, the budget is bumping up funding for kindergarten, meaning school districts and families that want it will now have full day funding, up from half day funding, the AP reports.
