Colorado's Redmond Gerard Gets 87 Burritos For Olympic Win

DENVER, CO -- Colorado's Redmond Gerard took home the first U.S. medal at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang last weekend, and for the impressive accomplishment, the Denver-based Chipotle is giving him 87 burritos.

Redmond, 17, became the youngest snowboarder to win an Olympic medal when he scored 87.16 in the men's slopestyle final Saturday. Following the win, the fast-casual eatery tweeted to Redmond, "We like your style, @RedmondGerard. You’ve earned Gold, let us bring the Silver," referring to the silver foil around its burritos.

"We want to hook you up with free Chipotle, so come score 87 burritos for you and your friends when you get back to CO. Let’s celebrate!" the company tweeted.

NPR reported that Redmond is also the youngest athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics this year.

"Gerard is the youngest American male athlete to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics since 1928," NPR reported. "The win preserves the U.S. streak of winning gold in slopestyle, which was added to the Olympics schedule in 2014."

Redmond, who currently lives in Silverthorne, Colo., will compete again in 10 days. We hopes he gets more burritos (and another medal).
