Deadly Denver Crime Spree: 5th Person Arrested

DENVER, CO — A fifth person was arrested Wednesday in connection with a crime spree in Denver that left a student dead.

Samuel Robert Fussell, 19, was found in Greeley and taken into custody, Denver police said.

Isaiah Freeman, 18, Aden Sides, 18, Noah Loepp-Hall, 19, and Seth James Larhode, 21, were previously arrested in connection with the crime spree.

Each man faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, assault, burglary, auto theft and felony menacing, police said.

The first crime was reported around 10 p.m. Aug. 17 in the 2700 block West Alameda Avenue. The group was breaking into a vehicle and pointed a gun at witnesses, police said.

A driver was then carjacked at gunpoint around 10:50 p.m. near Colfax Avenue and Grape Street, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.

The group ordered a man to the ground, robbed and shot him just after 11 p.m. in the 1500 block of Lafayette Street, police said. The man was hospitalized in critical condition, according to authorities.

Then an 18-year-old student was walking outside the Orthodox Jewish school Yeshiva Toras Chaim in the 1500 block of Stuart Street just after 11:30 p.m., when he was shot and killed by the group, police said. The student has been identified as Shmuel Silverberg, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed.

The homicide appears to be random and not bias-motivated, Denver police said.

The group is also accused of stealing a vehicle in Lakewood, police said.

After the first four men were taken into custody, Fussell remained at large until Wednesday.

"We received numerous Crime Stoppers tips regarding Fussell and we appreciate our partners in safety – which includes community members," Denver police said in a news release Thursday.
