Here are the top three stories in Denver today:

  1. Downtown Denver was a sea of burgundy and blue yesterday as the city celebrated the Colorado Avalanche's Stanley Cup win. A parade and community celebration were held in the team's honor after they claimed the Cup for the first time in over 20 years. Fans were able to watch the team ride through the streets along the parade route, which began at Union Station at Wynkoop and 17th and ended at Civic Center Park. (FOX 31)
  2. Denver PrideFest set a new attendance record this year. Organizers estimate over 535,000 people attended the two-day event and raised over $1 million to support the Center on Colfax, the largest LGBTQ+ center in the Rocky Mountain region. (Denver 7 Colorado News)
  3. A false claim of a painting featuring children donning masks with their country's flag appeared at the Denver International Airport in 1994 is recirculating. Social media users are trying to claim the mural as evidence the COVID-19 pandemic was planned. However, communications staff at the airport confirmed the mural did not belong to their art gallery. From our sponsor:

Are you a Denver resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

To learn more, visit Masterworks.io, where Denver Daily readers can skip the waitlist.
