- Moments after the team's historic Stanley Cup win in Tampa on Sunday night, the Colorado Avalanche dented the iconic trophy as they celebrated on the ice. Following the team's first win in 21 years, forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel slipped and fell on the ice with the cup as he raced to get in the team photo. Philip Pritchard, the vice president, resource centre, and curator for the Hockey Hall of Fame, said it was the first time the Cup has been damaged during the on-ice presentation. According to Yahoo!, a parade and celebration in honor of the Avalanches will take place in downtown Denver this Thursday. (9News)
- The RISE Comedy Festival is coming to Denver's BallPark District from Jul. 7-16! The first weekend of the festival will be devoted to stand-up comedy, while the second weekend will feature primetime comedians for improv and sketch comedy performances. More information and tickets can be found on the RISE Comedy festival website. (303 Magazine)
- The Phipps IMAX Theater, located inside the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, will close on Jul. 19 for "extensive renovations." According to the museum, the "major facelift" will require the entire theater area to close for several months. Upgrades will include a new lobby entrance, a new laser projector, and a new sound system. (9News.com KUSA)
