According to a recent report from the Coalition to Protect America's National Parks, environmental issues caused by the extraction of fossil fuels near four federally protected lands are already becoming a reality, and unless the federal government takes action to reinforce protections, these problems could become even more widespread.   2. A talented pianist that excels at the piano has a fondness for performing at the medical center that repaired his heart. Jude Kofie, a 12-year-old piano prodigy, refuses to let anything stand in the way of his musical pursuits. Born with a heart defect, Jude underwent surgery at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at two-months-old to correct the issue. Now 12 years old, Jude performed for both staff and patients on Saturday. (FOX31)
  3. City to temporarily close Speer Boulevard as part of bridge reconstruction. Part of Speer Boulevard in downtown Denver will experience a temporary closure on Feb. 20. The closure will impact the northbound side of Speer Boulevard, between Lawrence Street and Market Street. (9News)
  4. Judge rules in favor of RTD in legal battle over $100 million cost overages. A Denver District Court judge ruled on Friday that the Regional Transportation District (RTD) is not responsible for covering costs exceeding $100 million related to crossing gate issues on three of its commuter rail services. (CPR)
  5. Hoarder in Westminster is forced to clean up a second time in less than eight months. Clean-up teams hired by the City of Westminster recently cleared away piles of miscellaneous waste, including furniture, appliances, and even a toilet, from both the front and backyard of the home located at 4245 Barr Lane in Arvada. The previous cleanup occurred on June 15th. (KDVR)
