Pence Praises Walker Stapleton From Air Force Base
Pence said he spoke to Stapleton in a phone call. Colorado Democrats were not impressed.

AURORA, CO – Vice President Mike Pence swooped into Denver for a private fundraising luncheon Thursday, but he took time at Buckley Air Force Base to meet with some military members and answer questions about the local political races.
Standing on the tarmac beside Air Force Two, Pence said he had spoken by phone to Republican gubernatorial candidate Walker Stapleton, whom he said was "campaigning in another part of the state today."
"President Trump and I couldn't be more proud to stand with Walker Stapleton," Pence said. "He'll be a great governor for the people of Colorado. [Stapleton]'s been serving this state for the better part of eight years with great distinction."

Pence said Stapleton would be able to bring Colorado forward.
"When you look at what we've been able to do at the national level –cutting taxes, rolling back regulations, unleashing American energy – President Trump and I know that Walker Stapleton will bring the same kind of leadership to the statehouse here in Colorado. We couldn't be more proud to stand with him."

Trump endorsed Stapleton in a tweet last week.

Colorado Democrats were not impressed.
"Poor Walker Stapleton, he spent the entire campaign sucking up to Trump and all he has to show for it is a tweet and a phone call," said Eric Walker, communications director for the Colorado Democratic Party in a phone call. "They must be able to smell his desperation all the way from Washington."
Stapleton's campaign did not immediately return requests for comment.
