Here are the top stories today in Denver:

  1. DIA's Phil Washington gets grilled by senators on Capitol Hill in D.C. Washington, who has been nominated by President Joe Biden to head the FAA, faced a tumultuous confirmation hearing during which Republicans scrutinized his aviation credentials. He's currently serving as the CEO of Denver International Airport and also led RTD. (CO Sun)
  2. The biggest compost processing facility in Colorado has announced that it will stop accepting paper products and packaging materials. A1 Organics, which serves several communities along the Front Range including Denver, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, Longmont, and Arvada, will be altering the materials it accepts due to ongoing issues with material contamination. Beginning April 1, the company will no longer accept paper products or packaging that claim to be compostable. (CPR)
  3. After receiving a lengthy list of complaints, RTD is making modifications to the Union Station Bus Depot. As a result of the pandemic, the number of commuters using the underground bus depot at Denver's Union Station decreased, while the number of homeless people seeking refuge increased. RTD has reported that this shift in demographics has resulted in a rise in crime and drug usage. (CBS4)
  4. Grocery and convenience stores in Colorado can now sell wine. Grocery retailers across the state are now able to stock their shelves with wine for the very first time, following the passage of Proposition 125 by voters. The new law allows the sale of wine in both grocery stores and convenience stores. (FOX31)
  5. A woman from Wheat Ridge has been reunited with her dog that was reportedly taken from her yard. Two bulldogs were reportedly taken from the woman's yard located at West 35th and Kipling Street, shortly after the woman's husband passed away. The woman believed that a relative of her late husband was responsible. The second dog is still missing. (7News)
