Jimenez-Ortega had argued with Lucero over the phone earlier, witnesses told police in an affidavit, and wanted to be driven to a location where he was. After circling the block, witnesses told police Jimenez-Ortega jumped out of the car while it was still moving slowly and ran to speak to Lucero in front of a house. Multiple witnesses told police they saw Lucero pull out a gun and shoot Jimenez-Ortega, the affidavit said. Lucero then allegedly fled the scene.
