BNSF Railroad Worker Dies At Denver Rail Yard; NTSB Investigating

A railroad worker died Wednesday at a rail yard in Denver. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

DENVER, CO — A BNSF Railway worker died Wednesday while working at a rail yard in Denver, the company and authorities said.

The employee was fatally injured while working in the Globeville rail yard, BNSF told Patch. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation.

"The entire BNSF family is saddened by this incident and we extend our deepest sympathy and thoughts to the family and loved ones of the employee involved," a spokeswoman for the company told Patch in a statement.

Denver police told Patch in an email a man was involved in a collision and died at the scene. His death was under investigation as a non-criminal incident.

The Globeville rail yard sits between Interstate 25 and the South Platte River, just north of Coors Field.

BNSF Railway is a freight transportation company with a network of more than 32,000 miles of routes across 28 states. It has about 35,000 employees. The company reported third-quarter net income of $1.5 billion.
