Sunday, the Rockies won a resounding victory against the Washington Nationals 12-0 in front of a record-setting crowd at Denver's Coors Field. Colorado fans in the packed stadium began to chant "Beat L.A.! Beat L.A.!" before the game had even ended.

The Rockies will turn to German Marquez against the Dodgers in this 163rd game. Marquez says he's up for today's challenge: “It’s another game,” Márquez said to reporters following Sunday's MLB finale. “I’m going to stick to my plan, stick to my preparation and the way I’ve been preparing. Nothing changes as far as preparation and the way I’m going to go about my business.”

In 21 innings pitched against the Dodgers, Marquez has held his opponent to a .149 batting average, and has walked only five against 22 strikeouts. In games against the Dodgers this year, Marquez has fielded a respectable 2.57 earned run average.

Black considers his young righthander one of the best young pitchers in the National League - and for good reason: in 13 second-half starts, Marquez has posted a 2.55 ERA, and has struck out 115 batters in just 88-plus innings.

In Walker Buehler the Dodgers have a fireballing young righthander in his second MLB season. Buehler has faced the Rockies for 31 innings in 2018, allowing a total of 23 hits, and limiting the team to a similarly-anemic .203 batting average.

"Our goal is to win the division," he said. "With Walker rested, having an extra day -- right now, he's our best. To win this game, to win the division -- it's in our hands. That's been our goal from the beginning," Dodger manager Dave Roberts told reporters.
