- A 22-year-old man with autism was reportedly stabbed "several times" on an RTD bus on Thursday night, according to his family. The anonymous victim was reportedly riding a 15L bus at Colfax Avenue and Downing Street when he was stabbed 10 times. FOX31 reported that the man tried to get away from his attacker, but was stabbed again outside the bus. The motive and identity of the suspect is still unclear at this time. (FOX 31 Denver)
- Denver has joined Boulder, Commerce City, Pueblo, and Westminster in a lawsuit against the state of Colorado over a new tax law that's slated to go into effect next month. The cities object to HB22-1024 because it would keep them from collecting sales and use tax on building materials for public schools. They argue the law is "an unconstitutional usurpation of their right to levy taxes." The bill passed the legislature this year with bipartisan support, and Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed it into law in April. (Denver 7 Colorado News)
- If you see superheroes, sci-fi characters, and exotic animals wandering around Denver this weekend, they're likely headed to Fan Expo Denver at the Colorado Convention Center. This three-day event dedicated to pop culture kicked off yesterday and will run through Sunday, Jul. 3. Check out the full schedule of events for the weekend here. (Westword)
