Here are the top stories today in Denver:

  1. Today's snowstorm could bring ‘rapidly changing’ road conditions. The Colorado Department of Transportation has issued a winter travel alert for today, noting that different areas of the state will be affected by snow at different times, potentially resulting in unpredictable weather and road conditions, including high winds causing blowing snow and reduced visibility. (FOX31)
  2. Roadways in Denver that are littered with tents and garbage is causing frustration among neighbors. Trash and tents have been piling up along the interstates, off-ramps, and roadways across the metro area, including the area near the off-ramp from northbound Interstate 25 to Lincoln Street in Denver. (FOX31)
  3. Colorado's state incentives make it a favorable time to purchase an electric car. Only 10.5 percent of the cars sold in 2022 were electric vehicles made up 10.5 percent of all new vehicle sales in Colorado in 2022. It's a big goal to increase that number from 73,000 vehicles in 2022 to 940,000 by 2030. Incentives could provide up to $9,500 with both federal and state tax credits. (Patch)
  4. The proposed designs for I-25 and Broadway posed a serious threat to pedestrians and bicyclists, now the city is changing them. The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure plans to incorporate extra safety measures for pedestrians and bicyclists in the interchange of Interstate 25 and Broadway. Advocates and elected officials have expressed their concerns that the way it was designed would actually increase the hazard to people trying to cross the street. (Denverite)
  5. Library contaminations reveal that there's a very real drug addiction problem in Colorado. The closures have impacted not only library patrons who visit to work, read, or participate in community-led activities, but they have also prompted members of the library systems to question the sufficiency of their resources. It highlights a more extensive drug addiction issue affecting the entire state. (CO Newsline)
