Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- Vote on Washington's confirmation to lead the FAA put on hold. Phil Washington, the current head of DIA, previously managed transit agencies in Denver and Los Angeles and he was also in charge of the Transportation Department's transition team for the incoming Biden administration. However, Republicans have criticized his lack of experience in aviation safety, despite his recent appointment at the Denver airport in mid-2021. (7News)
- During a weapons check, a high school student in Denver shot two administrators. Police reported that the student, who had not been located by mid-day on Wednesday, was being searched as part of a safety protocol when the shooting occurred. (Patch)
- As contract negotiations continue, Starbucks employees in Colorado have joined a nationwide strike. On Wednesday, at least three Starbucks branches in Colorado closed down as employees went on strike to protest the company's halted contract negotiations. The walkout impacted two stores in the suburbs of Westminster and Superior, one in Colorado Springs, and a store in Denver's Cherry Creek neighborhood. The strikes are part of a nationwide effort involving thousands of Starbucks workers. (CPR)
