Hi all. It's me, Brad K. Evans, your host of the Patch newsletter. Let's get this day started off right with a quick review of the most important things happening these days in town, including updates on:

Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- Three candidates vying for final two spots in runoff in Denver mayoral race. Denver's Election Division will continue to count ballots into Thursday. Mike Johnston is still in the lead, but Lisa Calderón is gaining ground in the mayoral race that's all but guaranteed to move into a runoff between the top two candidates. More than 175,000 ballots have been processed, and at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, there were approximately 25,000 that still needed to be tabulated. (7News)
- Theft rings finding it more difficult to sell stolen goods online. Castle Rock Police are shocked when reviewing the audacity of the shoplifters that make no attempt to conceal their illegal activities. One example includes a couple who brazenly grab armfuls of clothes from a Polo store in Castle Rock. (FOX31)
- Home prices have dropped from this time last year, but bidding wars surge in Denver real estate market. The rise in home prices in metro Denver has led to a significant reduction in the number of homes available for sale at prices below $500,000. As a result, it is likely that low inventory and high demand will become the norm making it more challenging for middle-class individuals and those with lower incomes to buy a home. (Denverite)
- Students protest across the metro area against school gun violence. As part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness about gun violence in schools, students in the Denver metro area participated in the nationwide Students Demand Action Walkout on Wednesday. Hundreds of students in the Denver area joined the walkout and left their classes in solidarity. (9News)
