Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. Two women who were killed in a domestic stabbing in our city have been identified as 33-year-old Katherine Pivoda and 49-year-old Jennifer Gelvin. Both are mothers, and 36-year-old Matthew Madden is accused of killing them in the 2200 block of South Marion Street. Fundraisers have been launched for the mothers' families. (FOX 31 Denver)
  2. A driver struck a pedestrian in Denver and took off without letting police know what happened, according to the Denver Police Department. The pedestrian was hospitalized, but their condition is not known. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7857. (FOX 31 Denver)
  3. Meteor showers return to the skies over Colorado in October with the Draconids and the Orionids. The Draconids meteor shower, which runs from Oct. 6-10, is short-lived but is a favorite for many stargazers because the best viewing times are right after nightfall. (Denver Patch)
  4. An all-inclusive music school has opened in Colorado, and it's accepting new students. The Arvada school continues to showcase some impressive local talent. (CBS Denver)
  5. In Colorado, 88.1 percent of allocated COVID-19 vaccines have been given to residents as of Sept. 30. That number is greater than the national average of 82.8 percent and marks the fifth largest share of all states. (24/7 Wall St. - Denver)
