Chain-Reaction Wreck Kills Motorcyclist At US 6 And Colfax: Cops
Several motorcyclists and cars were involved in an afternoon wreck on U.S. Hwy 6 Sunday afternoon

GOLDEN, CO – A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a pileup on US Hwy 6 that involved several cars and motorcycles, the Golden Police Department said.
Around 2:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a crash site at the intersection of US 6 and Colfax Avenue in Golden. When Golden Police arrived on the scene, two motorcycles were in the roadway, and one motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police that a large group of motorcycles were traveling westbound on US 6. Somehow, a collision caused a chain reaction crash that involved several motorcycles and several cars. All of the other motorcyclists left the scene before police arrived, police said.

Drivers of cars involved stayed at the scene and worked with police to provide witness statements, police said in a statement.
The exact cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.

Police did not identify the motorcyclist who was killed, waiting to notify next-of-kin, the department said in a statement.
US 6 westbound was closed at I-70 for much of the afternoon Sunday as investigators worked on the scene.
