Deadline To Take Jeffco School Funding Priorities Survey

Voters approved a $33 million mill levy override to improve schools. Have your say in how to use the money. Deadline is Jan. 31.

GOLDEN, CO – In the November, 2018 general election, Jefferson County voters approved the JeffCo School district's request for a $33 million boost in revenue from a mill levy override.

The original proposal said up to half of the revenue generated could be used for operating expenses, including teachers salaries.

Now the district asks residents to help them prioritize where the community would like that money spent.

"As Jeffco Public Schools begins to determine expenditures ... we are seeking feedback on what the community values and would prioritize," the district said in a press release.

An online survey asks parents and community members where they think money should go.

Several categories of expenses are offered to choose from including: Salary raises for new and experienced teachers; mental health services, social workers and school nurses; STEM and science programming and preschool expansion.

You can choose that the district pick your top priorities, or tell the district to choose all of them.

Don't delay, the survey ends on Jan. 31.

The 5A JeffCo School District mill levy increase passed on Nov. 6with a decisive margin with 54.93 percent of the voters voting yea and 45.07 voting no.
