Fatal Golden Wreck: Littleton Woman, 73, IDed As Victim
Police identified the woman who was killed in a head-on collision that may have been caused by drunken driving.
GOLDEN, CO – Golden police released the name of a 73-year-old woman who was killed Feb. 22 in a head-on wreck, when a driver swerved into oncoming traffic on US Hwy 93.
Margaret Braun, of Littleton, a passenger in the right rear seat of a Hyundai Santa Fe, was killed after a Ford Expedition driven by 29-year old William Lenox hit the Hyundai about 11:30 p.m. near Golden Gate Canyon Road, police said. Braun suffered "severe head trauma" and was declared dead at the scene, police said. Lenox was driving without headlamps, police said.
Other passengers in the Hyundai who were injured were 76-year old William Braun of Littleton, 76-year old Nancy Chamberlin and 75-year old James Chamberlin of Lakewood, police said. Two of those passengers remain in the hospital, police said.

Investigators said the car with the Brauns and Chamberlins was traveling about 30-35 mph and Lenox was driving the Expedition about 45-50 mph when he crossed over the double yellow lines and hit the Hyundai.
Lenox was not injured. He was arrested and faces charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, DUI and careless driving resulting in death.

Lenox is in custody at the Jefferson County jail being held without bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 1.
