Anonymous Call Leads To Arrest In Lakewood Hit-And-Run Case
Marisa Sophara Kakos, 26, was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian critically injured, Lakewood police said.
LAKEWOOD, CO — An anonymous caller led Lakewood police to arrest a woman in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian in critical condition.
Marisa Sophara Kakos, 26, faces several charges, including felony hit-and-run involving serious bodily injury, police said.
Police officers were called around 2 a.m. Sunday to Highway 285 near South Simms Street after they received a report of a person who was walking in the area. The officers found a woman lying on a median, and she was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.

"The investigation showed that a car struck the pedestrian," The Lakewood Police Department said in a news release.
"The car involved left the scene. Why the pedestrian was walking on the highway is still being investigated."

After the police department issued a public notice with the vehicle's description, an anonymous caller gave them information about the driver, the department said.
The vehicle that was involved in the hit-and-run was found and impounded, police said.
The woman who was struck by the vehicle remains in critical condition, police said. Her identity has not been released.
Kakos is being held at the Jefferson County jail. No further details about the investigation were released.
