• Denver man charged with vehicular homicide in deadly crash with school activity bus (cbsnews.com) — Lakewood police say a high-speed crash at Kipling Parkway and West 6th Avenue involving a school activity bus has now led to a vehicular homicide charge against the SUV’s driver. The December 6 collision injured 16 people, including visiting high school wrestlers, and one victim has since died as investigators continue examining speed and other factors.
   

• Colorado State Patrol troop achieves 100+ days without impaired-driving fatality on state highways (denver7.com) — Drivers in Lakewood and the rest of Jefferson County are part of a Colorado State Patrol district that’s gone more than 150 days without an impaired-driving fatality on state highways. Troopers credit increased sobriety checkpoints for boosting DUI arrests while reducing deadly crashes, underscoring the ongoing push to keep local roads safer through the holidays.
