Arrest In Fatal Lakewood 5-Car Accident

Police on Wednesday arrested Kenneth Grudznske in connection with the wreck that killed Angela Wimmer, 25, on Sunday.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Police on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with Sunday's fatal five-car accident that killed a woman at Kipling Street and West Colfax Avenue.

Todd Kenneth Grudznske, 47, faces charges of vehicular homicide DUI, reckless driving, felony DUI and violation of a protection order, according to John Romero, communications spokesperson for Lakewood Police.

The accident happened around 12:47 p.m. Sept. 30 when 25 year-old Angela Wimmer was stopped at a red light at southbound Kipling St. and Colfax. Grudznske, allegedly driving at a high rate of speed, rear-ended Wimmer's car with his truck, pushing it into the intersection where it was struck by three other vehicles, police said. Zimmer was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injures.

Police traffic investigators said both speed and alcohol are believed to have played a role in this accident, Romero said.

Grudznske was also injured in the accident. He was taken to a hospital and released Wednesday into police custody.

Wimmer was a native of Muenster, Texas, according to her obituary. Funeral services will be held for her in Lindsay, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Grudznske was booked into the Jefferson County jail on a $20,000 bond.
