Body Of Missing Paddleboarder Found At Bear Creek Lake Park

A 25-year-old paddleboarder went missing Saturday at Big Soda Lake.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — The body of a 25-year-old man was recovered after he went missing Saturday while he was paddleboarding at Bear Creek Lake Park, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials said.

The West Metro Fire dive crew was called around 3 p.m. to Big Soda Lake after the paddleboarder's friends reported him missing.

The 25-year-old man went into the water after a cell phone was dropped into the lake, fire officials said. His friends called for help and worked with rescue crews to look for him.

The search turned into a recovery operation around 5:20 p.m., and crews used sonar equipment and a drone in their search, which continued into the night.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced around 7:50 a.m. Sunday that the body of the paddleboarder had been found and turned over to the Jefferson County coroner.

The name of the 25-year-old was not released.
