Clear Out the Clutter At Lakewood's Clean Up Day

Lakewood residents can get rid of unwanted furniture, mattresses, appliances (even TVs) and more for free.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Time for a little fall cleaning in Lakewood. "Cleanup Days," Lakewood's annual get-rid-of-it event allows residents to de-clutter basements, garages and homes. It's really only a single day – Oct. 13 – and the collection of your unwanted material goods takes place from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Jeffco Stadium, 500 Kipling St.

The city will accept your mattresses, furniture, appliances, car parts (but NOT tires) and even electronic appliances, such as TVs and computer monitors (with a $20 fee).

Here's a list of what they won't accept:

  • Landscaping materials and fencing
  • Yard waste including trees, branches, shrubs
  • Scrap lumber or drywall
  • Household chemicals, paint, fuel tanks or cans, propane bottles, light bulbs -- these can be recycled at the Rooney Road Recycling Center, by appointment only, for a nominal fee
  • Gravel, asphalt, rock, sod, earth, concrete, brick, blocks, pavers or roofing material
  • General household trash or loose debris that would normally be picked up by a residential trash service
  • Materials or debris from a private contractor's work
  • Tires
  • Regular recyclable items such as plastic bottles, newspaper, glass, cardboard and cans - these can be dropped off seven days a week at the Quail St. Recycling Center
